Benzoin is also known as Benjamin gum, because it is derived from the sap of Benjamin, a tree native to Indonesia. It is a valuable viscous oil, with thickness comparable to that of honey. Because of this, it is blended with ethanol or other solvents to improve its usability. Benzoin resin is commonly used as fixative in perfumery and is an emotionally grounding and calming oil which is a great addition to your aromatherapy collection.
